The Football Ferns have been drawn in the same group as Olympic and World Champions the USA at the Rio Olympics.
New Zealand will also face face world number three France and 24th ranked Colombia in their other matches in Group G.
The top two nations from each of the three groups, plus the top two third-place teams, advance to the quarterfinals.
The Football Ferns open the Olympics against USA at Belo Horizonte on the opening day of the tournament on August 3.
New Zealand played the world champion US side last year, going down 4-0. They also lost to France 2-1 in 2014.
