SYDNEY - New Zealand cyclist Sarah Ulmer was able to train without pain yesterday, but national track coach Ron Cheatley says her Olympic campaign is way behind schedule.
Ulmer, a strong medal chance in the individual pursuit and points race at the Games, has a leg injury caused by a pinched nerve.
The track cyclists are training in Adelaide, where Cheatley said last night that Ulmer would have to go into the Games without any points-race training, although she would still do the two events.
"There is a lot of ground to make up," he said.
"She is only just doing training she should have been doing two weeks ago.
"Hopefully, we can get her energy levels up to 100 per cent."
The track cyclists arrive in Sydney on Sunday.
