Olympic canoeing combination Ben Fouhy and Steven Ferguson have split on amicable terms.
Schedule difficulties at major regattas has prompted Fouhy to pour his focus into the K1 1000, the discipline in which he is a former world champion. Ferguson, his former K2 1000 partner, will team up with Mike Walker in an attempt to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.
In August Fouhy and Ferguson finished ninth in the K2 1000 final at the world championships in Zagreb, a race which started just 17 minutes after Fouhy had crossed the line in fifth place in the K1 1000.
Fouhy said the schedules for major regattas were now set and with the K2 1000 always hot on the heels of the K1 event, he wanted to concentrate on the K1.
