Barbara Kendall was in blistering form on Sydney Harbour yesterday, outgunning her Olympic boardsailing rivals - but she was punished for her eagerness.
The Olympic favourite won both races in the Oceanic championships, but was later disqualified in the second for being over the start-line early.
Kendall was, however, able to drop the worst result, and moved up a spot to second equal, two points behind defending Olympic champion Lai Shan Lee, of Hong Kong.
Fellow Kiwi Aaron McIntosh furthered his lead in the men's fleet, with a fifth and a first, a stunning two-and-a-half minutes ahead of the next finisher.
McIntosh, whose 18 months of training in Sydney appears to be paying off, sits comfortably ahead of Fijian Tony Philp and Australia's big medal hope Lars Kleppich.
