ATHENS - New Zealand javelin thrower Stuart Farquhar failed to qualify for the Olympic Games final tonight in Athens.
Seeking to throw 81m or be among the top 12 throwers to make it to the final, Farquhar was well off the pace both counts.
His best throw was 74.63m, more than five metres below his personal best of 79.68m.
Farquhar, 22, opened with a 74.24m throw, threw 73.04m with his second attempt, then closed out the competition with 74.63m.
Farquhar finished 25th in a field of 33.
