An Olympic swimmer who said he'd been the victim of a deliberate hit and run accident has changed his statement and says he wasn't hit by a car.
Swimming Australia on Saturday confirmed Kenrick Monk changed his statement to police, saying he had injured himself in a skateboard accident .
Monk suffered two broken bones in his elbow in the incident on Wednesday in a major blow to his Olympic chances.
The Commonwealth Games gold medallist had told police that a P-plate driver deliberately struck him.
"I remember the guys in the car yelling 'oi' and laughing. I turned and I got whacked on the side - that was it," Monk said.
