Paddy O'Brien looks to have refereed his last first class match as he is sidelined by an Achilles tendon injury.
O'Brien reckons he has only a 20 per cent chance of refereeing a provincial game during the upcoming Lions tour.
The country's leading referee has been sidelined since early last month with an Achilles tendon injury.
He is travelling to Auckland this weekend to visit All Black muscle therapist George Duncan, who is O'Brien's last hope.
O'Brien had hoped to referee another international game before his retirement.
