NZME journalists have dominated the finalists for the annual TP McLean Sports Journalism Awards, with no less than 15 nominations across 11 categories.
The winners will be announced at an awards dinner on December 10, when the CBL Insurance Supreme Sports Journalist of the Year will also be announced.
New Zealand Herald journalist Dylan Cleaver cleaned up at last year's awards for his work on cricket's match-fixing saga and Cleaver is a finalist in three categories (print feature, column and community/recreation/adventure reporting) this year too.
Dana Johannsen, also a former supreme winner, is a finalist in two categories (news reporting - print and online, and column), as are Steven Holloway (news reporting and column) and photographer Brett Phibbs (sports portfolio, and community sports/recreational/adventure photography portfolio).
Patrick McKendry is a finalist in sports news reporting, David Skipwith in the DJ Cameron young journalist award and Andrew Alderson in the best community sports/recreational/adventure reporting.
