NZers safe after bomb attack outside Indian cricket clash

New Zealand's Simon Doull says it is not worth the risk to your life, after two low-intensity bombs, apparently contained in bags, went off at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in India where he was about to commentate a cricket match for television.

New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor was among the foreign players waiting to take part in the game for the Bangalore side against Mumbai.

The Blackcaps player's Royal Challengers Bangalore side were to play the Mumbai Indians.

Two explosions outside the packed cricket stadium in the southern city of Bangalore injured at least 10 people, including three policemen.

The stadium was about to host a match in the popular Indian Premier League cricket tournament.

Police say the explosions were heard from a generator room. Hundreds of police were rushed to the stadium.

Television channels showed policemen cordoning off a large area and urging people to stay away.

Former New Zealand test player now commentator Doull was at the stadium ready to commentate the game and was among those who was ushered downstairs for safety.

The match was delayed but has gone ahead.

Doull is due to come home on Monday. He says in a situation like this you think of your family, and he now has a little boy to consider. He says a cricket game is not worth risking your life for.

Doull says it felt like a heart attack and it was one heck of a shock.
