NSW Waratahs coach Rob Penney has been sacked.
The veteran mentor was given the news on Sunday after a meeting of senior officials on Sunday morning resulted in the immediate termination of Penney's contract.
Penney was less than two seasons through the three-year deal he signed at the end of 2019, but the Waratahs made the decision to cast him aside following Saturday's 46-14 thumping at the hands of the Queensland Reds.
The Waratahs are winless from five games this year and sit at the very bottom of the Aussie Super Rugby table.
The Sydney Morning Herald first reported the news of Penney's demise before a club statement confirmed the news on Sunday night.
