Hockey New Zealand is excited to announce Greg Nicol as New Zealand U21 Womens Head Coach and Bryce Collins as New Zealand U21 Mens Head Coach as they begin preparations for the Under 21 international calendar and towards the respective Junior World Cups in 2020.
Stepping away from his current full time Assistant Coach role with the Vantage Black Sticks Men at the end of this year, Collins connected his senior international experience from campaigns with Vantage Black Sticks Head Coach Darren Smith to his new role. "I am excited to head a team with as much potential as this, supporting the next generation is important for the Vantage Black Sticks to perform consistently internationally."
Greg Nicol will remain in his current role as Hockey New Zealands Athlete Pathway Manager, but will focus his attention on the coaching of the Womens team and staff.
Along with Collins, Nicol has been working with High Performance Sport NZ in the Coach Accelerator programme since his previous coaching involvements with both the Vantage Black Sticks Womens and Mens programmes.
High Performance Director Paul MacKinnon said, "We are pleased to have such capable people appointed to these roles, crucial to developing the performance of Hockey New Zealands players and coaches."
