New Zealand sports fans will be able to get a taste of the world's fastest growing indoor sport when highlights of the ASB Futsal National League air on Sky TV in January.
Futsal is a five-player-a-side indoor variation of football, and New Zealand's national league is now in its second edition. This is the first time television coverage has been provided, with New Zealand Football securing airtime for all three series of the national league.
Series one was held at Dunedin's Edgar Centre earlier this month, with series two scheduled for February at Auckland's ASB Stadium and the league culminating at Wellington's ASB Sports Centre in March.
New Zealand Football futsal development manager Dave Payne said the coverage would attract even more players to a game that is beginning to take off in centres around New Zealand.
"TV is a wonderful shop window to showcase the sport and I'm sure the highlights will pique the interest of viewers who haven't been exposed to the sport before."
