After completing pool play unbeaten with a stunning 52-47 win over Australia, the Silver Ferns will have a well-earned day off at the Netball World Cup in Sydney before moving into the second phase of the competition.
Following today's final round of pool play, the teams will split off into the top eight and bottom eight for sectional play. The draw for these round qualification matches will not be officially confirmed until tonight, but it is expected the Ferns next game will be against world no. 4 Jamaica tomorrow night.
Here's a rundown of how the next phase will work:
- The top two from each pool advance through to the top eight, and split off once more into two pools for another round robin.
- Pool E will feature New Zealand, Jamaica, Malawi and the loser of today's match between Wales and Uganda. Pool F will feature Australia, England, South Africa and Uganda/Wales.
- After the round qualification matches the top two teams from each pool will go through to the semifinals.
- While the top eight are battling it out, the bottom eight will also be competing in their own sectional play.
