Australia have beaten New Zealand 42-38 to claim the Netball World Championships in Auckland tonight.
The Ferns came within one goal of the Australians on a couple of occasions during the back-end of the quarter but could convert their opportunities into goals.

The Silver Ferns have clawed their way back into the match and reduced Australia's lead to just three goals heading into the final quarter.
Ferns wing defence Jolene Henry was superb at halting Australia's flow of possession.
However, the Ferns were still being troubled under the hoop by a vicious defence from Australia's Liz Ellis and Mo'onia Gerrard.

Sloppy passing from the Silver Ferns and intense pressure in midcourt from Australia has seen the Aussies take a seven-goal lead at halftime.
The Ferns struggled to feed Irene van Dyk, while at the other end Casey Williams was unable to contain Australian goal shoot Catherine Cox.
Cox cheered on her attackers and it seemed to have the desired effect as the green and golds built on their first quarter lead.

The Silver Ferns came out of the blocks quick to take a two goal lead but it was Australia who led after the first quarter.
The Australian defence is piling the pressure on in midcourt and forcing the Ferns to throw some loose passes.
There is a strong contingent of Australian fans in the Waitakere crowd but nothing in comparison to the thunderstick banging Silver Fern fanatics.

Jamica have claimed the bronze medal at the Netball World Championships after beating England in another one-point match 53-52.
Jamaica dominated for most of the game but a late flurry from England almost saw them push the game into extra-time.

Some of the teams now out of the competition are sitting in the stands soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the finals.
Barbados goal keep Natasha Bridgeman said she will be supporting the Silver Ferns in the final.
"They're the better team. I supported them in 2003 and that's why they won. They needed the extra support," Bridgeman said.
Executive member of the Botswana netball team Major General Oitsile said he will also be backing New Zealand.
"Because they're the host and above all New Zealand has been very kind to us and most welcoming. We need to give them moral support. We wish them to win the tournament," Major General Oitsile said.
Malawi captain Peace Chawinga said New Zealand will win because they have accurate shooters while Australia has sometimes been off target.
"At least if they can pass accurately to Irene van Dyke, there's no one better than her and when she gets in to the ring you can expect everything from her," Chawinga said.

Malawi have upset South Africa 52-49 to claim fifth place at the Netball World Champs.
It was a tense, physical battle between the two African sides before Malawi surged away in the fourth quarter.

Fans have begun pouring into the Waitakere stadium for the Netball World Champs ahead of tonight's final between the Silver Ferns and Australia.
There is a real Australian presence inside with a green and gold spattering across the stands.
Waltzing Matilda renditions have already been made outside as lines of Ferns fans, many with the fern painted on their faces and decked out in black, file into the stadium.
The final day of the Champs started with a thrilling one goal win by Cook Islands over Samoa.
Tournament organisers were a brief scare after the day's first match between the Cook Islands and Samoa. The stadium was plunged into darkness for some minutes after the game after a power cut.
Only the emergency lights and television lighting was available. Thankfully the power came back on before the start of the South Africa versus Malawi game.

The final day of the Netball World Championships has gotten off to a flyer.
The Cook Islands have beaten Samoa by a single point to claim seventh place.
After leading for most of the match, the Cook Islands had a brief scare midway through final quarter when Samoa hit the front. However, the Cooks kept their composure and held on to win 56-55.
Malawi and South Africa have are up next to determine fifth and sixth position with England and Jamaica to follow in the third and fourth playoff. Then at 8.10pm it's the big one, the Silver Ferns take on Australia to determine the number one netballing nation in the world.
