Casey Williams' return to international netball has been put on hold, with the Silver Ferns captain ruled out of today's opening Constellation Cup test against Australia in Melbourne.
The inspirational defender pulled up with a sore knee after yesterday's final training run, and the decision was made not to risk her for the opener.
Williams has not played for the Ferns since last year's world championships in Singapore, missing the end of year series as she recovered from minor ankle surgery.
Leana de Bruin will start at goal defence in place of Williams, with Katrina Grant partnering her in the defensive circle.
The other big shock in the Ferns starting line-up for this afternoon's test is the inclusion of Anna Harrison, traditionally a circle defender, at wing defence.
