Canterbury shooter Anna Thompson has been given the chance to add to her single international netball cap after she was recalled to the Silver Ferns for next month's three-test series against England.
Thompson, who made her claims with sound performances at last month's fastnet world championship in England, replaces veteran mid-courter Temepara George who is rehabilitating from minor ankle surgery.
Thompson, who debuted for the Silver Ferns in the second test against a World Seven last year, will also be expected to display versatility as a wing attack, coach Ruth Aitken said.
"With the world championship (at Singapore) only six months away, I felt it was important to continue to develop further depth.
"Anna really stood up and delivered a strong shooting performance in the gold medal winning NZ FastNet Ferns side and selectors felt she should be rewarded with a spot in the team.
"It is great to be able to bring another shooting option into the side and with the versatility of both Grace Rasmussen and Anna Thompson who can also provide WA cover, we are looking forward to seeing the resourcefulness that this group will bring" said Aitken.
The three-test series sees the senior Silver Ferns returning to action after winning the Commonwealth Games gold medal at India in October.
Silver Ferns team to tour England next month are:
Leana de Bruin, Katrina Grant, Joline Henry, Laura Langman, Liana Leota (nee Barrett-Chase), Grace Rasmussen, Anna Scarlett, Anna Thompson, Maria Tutaia, Irene van Dyk, Casey Williams (captain), Daneka Wipiiti.
