Australian coach Norma Plummer is keeping quiet about who she has in mind to take the court against the Silver Ferns in Wednesday night's one-off test in Sydney.
Australia hold a slight advantage going into the match, having beaten the Silver Ferns 2-1 in last year's return series in November.
Like the Silver Ferns, Australia have made four changes to their team since the November series.
The most significant is the return of instrumental goal attack Sharelle McMahon who missed the last series through ankle surgery.
Plummer said McMahon is still probably only at 70 per cent of her best and expects it to take her most of the year to get back to top form.
Even without McMahon, Australia's shooting lineup will take some stifling.
The question is whether Plummer will start with the Sydney Swifts combination of Catherine Cox and Megan Anderson, or the Melbourne Phoenix pairing of Eloise Southby-Halbish and McMahon or a mix of the two.
In typical Plummer fashion she is reluctant to give anything away.
Australia are a little less experienced than New Zealand in the midcourt but once again Plummer does have plenty of options.
Defensively, Australia have been a little wanting in the goal defence position since the retirement of Kathryn Harby-Williams.
Alison Broadbent and Mo'onia Gerrard have been strong during the Commonwealth Bank Trophy and Plummer also counts captain Liz Ellis as an option there.
If Ellis is moved to goal defence it could pave the way for Demelza Fellowes, who is 5cm taller than Ellis, to slot in at goal keep against Irene van Dyk.
When asked about the New Zealand team, Plummer said she wouldn't be surprised if Laura Langman started at wing defence ahead of veteran Lesley Rumball and that Casey Williams got a run at some stage.
Plummer said Australia were keen to play New Zealand in a series earlier this year but New Zealand rejected the offer because it clashed with the National Bank Cup.
Australia then rejected New Zealand's idea of playing a series now because it clashes with their Commonwealth Bank Trophy, hence the reason one test is being played now and another in October.
With the Commonwealth Games 10 months away, Plummer doesn't necessarily believe the team that is successful in the two Transtasman matches this year will take a psychological advantage into the Games.
