KEY POINTS:
It was a recurring nightmare as Silver Ferns defender Casey Williams fell heavily and was helped from the court on the eve of the selection of the New Zealand team to tour England.
The talented defender has been plagued by injuries in her short career - a broken ankle at the Commonwealth Games, then a knee injury which kept her out of the last test series against Australia in October.
When she landed awkwardly on her troubled left knee during the Magic's match against the Shakers on Saturday night, the 21-year-old wept tears of frustration. Yesterday she assured the New Zealand selectors her knee should have recovered after three days' rest.
Williams should be a certainty in the side, especially since the retirement of keeper Vilimaina Davu.
The national selectors met last night to choose a 12-player team, plus two training partners, to travel to England next month for games against Australia, England and England A.
Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken was at the Flames-Rebels match yesterday, while her assistant Leigh Gibbs was in Auckland for the Diamonds-Force game on Saturday.
Former captain and mother of three Julie Seymour could well have played her way into the touring side after a tireless effort for the Flames yesterday which could leave her teammate Maree Bowden at home.
Flames shooter Jade Topia may also have earned herself a ticket to Manchester, as a possible training partner.

Irene van Dyk, Maria Tutaia, Jodi Te Huna, Paula Griffin, Adine Wilson, Temepara George, Julie Seymour, Laura Langman, Joline Henry, Anna Scarlett, Casey Williams, Leana de Bruin. Training partners: Jade Topia, Sheryl Scanlan.
