MELBOURNE - Silver Ferns netballer Liana Barrett-Chase has been ruled out of the tour of Australia due to a calf muscle strain.
Barrett-Chase returned to New Zealand today after team management decided to scratch her from tomorrow's second test here, and Sunday's third test in Brisbane.
The wing attack, who played a big role in New Zealand's 53-50 series-opening win over Australia on Sunday, suffered the injury late in the match.
She wasn't able to train today and was booked to fly home, with the hope she may be available for the fourth test in Invercargill on September 20.
Canterbury's Maree Bowden will likely replace her as the starting wing attack tomorrow.
