The Silver Ferns are turning to youth to replenish their squad, with several young prospects a chance of earning international selection.
In the past year, Leana de Bruin, Casey Kopua and Anna Harrison have all retired from international netball, while Laura Langman was made ineligible by joining an Australian franchise.
As a result, Silver Ferns coach Janine Southby has named 25 trialists to make their eventual squad of 15 which will be named for the Netball Quad Series and Taini Jamison Trophy.
Of those 25, 14 are 24 years old or younger, with youth especially prevalent in the attacking and defensive circles - areas where Southby believes it is crucial to create depth.
"I think across all areas it's a commonly known fact that we are lacking depth across the group. The shooting end we're looking at, and certainly in the circle defence end we're definitely looking to build depth in this area," Southby told Radio Sport.
