KEY POINTS:
New Zealand netball fans who had hoped to go to Fiji for next year's world championships face an agonising wait to see whether they will get first dibs on tickets for the new venue.
Stars Sports Tours has about 1000 people on its books who were planning to go to Suva for the tournament in July. However, the world championships have now been taken off the Pacific Island nation, with the International Federation of Netball Associations left no choice but to relocate the event due to the recent coup.
Star Sports Tours General Manager Paul Hodgson hopes to be able to offer the affected fans tickets to the yet-to-be-decided alternative venue. He says netball's governing body has indicated it is keen to look after people who have already shown their support, but there is no guarantee.
Mr Hodgson says a decision on the new site for the tournament is unlikely to be made before Christmas.
Meanwhile, officials at Auckland's unfinished Vector Arena are refusing to comment on whether the stadium is a potential host, or even if it would be finished in time for the July tournament. They are also staying mum on whether there are ongoing problems with the arena's roof. The Arena was originally due to be completed last April.
