The Silver Ferns have lost one of their biggest weapons as they chase an elusive clean sweep against Australia in Christchurch tomorrow.
Shooter Maria Tutaia has been ruled out of the match with a knee injury and has been replaced in the squad by Anna Thompson.
Tutaia was excellent in the first two tests but will now undergo rest and rehabilitation in order to be back to full fitness for the upcoming Quad Series against Australia, England and South Africa.
Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu said, while it was disappointing for the team to be without their talented goal attack, player welfare was the priority.
"After assessment this afternoon our medical team has put in place a comprehensive rest and recovery plan in order for Maria to be back to full fitness,'' she said. "We are very pleased to have the services of Silver Fern Anna Thompson available in Christchurch to join the team for tomorrow night's test.''
