After being taken to overtime in their two previous meetings, the Canterbury Tactix hope to do things a lot more comfortably against the Central Pulse in Christchurch today.
The Tactix won both ANZ Championship match-ups between the two sides last year, but only after being taken to the wire by the young Pulse side. The hapless Wellington franchise remain without a win in the transtasman competition, despite coming heartbreakingly close on a number of occasions.
The Tactix can probably empathise a little with the Pulse, having been on the wrong end of three close losses in their last few hit-outs. But they are unlikely to show any sympathy out on court today, with the Canterbury side in desperate need of a win to drag themselves out of the bottom two.
In other action over the weekend, the Adelaide Thunderbirds meet the Queensland Firebirds with both sides looking to shore up their place in the top four of the competition standings.
The Southern Steel will also be looking to stake their claim on a top four spot when they do battle with the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic on Monday night.
Monday night's late game sees championship leaders Melbourne Vixens come up against reigning premiers NSW Swifts, desperately in need of a win to turn their fortunes.
