Netball: Sting name protected players

Southern Sting have taken a cautious approach in naming only 11 protected squad netballers in the first National Bank Cup squad list.

Franchises could name up to 18 players this week, with final team lists of 12 being announced at the end of January.

However, Sting have kept to a bare minimum.

The franchise is believed to be still interested in tempting Australian midcourter and former Sting player Natalie Avellino back into the clan.

Protected squad members: Sarah Barnes, Hayley Crofts, Tania Dalton, Anna Galvan, Jenny Ferguson, Megan Hutton, Lesley Rumball, Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickett, Wendy Telfer, Jade Topia, Adine Wilson.
