The Southern Steel has blown a five goal lead to let the New South Wales Swifts into the box seat to secure an ANZ Championship top four spot.
The Swifts have beaten the Steel 40-39 in Dunedin, despite the southerners pulling away in the third quarter.
Steel Shooter Paula Griffin, named in the Silver Ferns World Cup squad this week, shot just 2 goals from four attempts in the final quarter. Captain Wendy Frew says they got close. She says they stepped up and played well but did not come away with the win.
The Swifts move to 16 points on the table, alongside the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.
