KEY POINTS:
A barnstorming start from the Otago Rebels proved too much as the Flyers succumbed 57-39 when netball's National Bank Cup resumed in Palmerston North on Friday.
Debbie White's influential midcourt effort earned her the player of the match award, the Rebels revelling in a wealth of possession as they leapt out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter.
The Flyers showed composure to recover slightly by halftime to trail 28-20, but could find no response as the Rebels ran riot in the third quarter to lead 42-30 with 15 minutes remaining.
The Rebels had too much firepower through the court, and their shooters reaped the benefit, putting up 77 shots to the Flyers' 49.
Angela Mitchell topped the Rebels shooting stats, sinking 26 from 32 attempts for an 81 per cent success rate, with returning Silver Fern Jodi Te Huna marginally less accurate with 24 from 32.
For the Flyers, Hayley Stockman managed an excellent 32 from 36 for an 88 per cent success rate, but the lack of possession was always going to prove the northerners' undoing.
