Southern Steel have added two homegrown products to their playing roster for next year's trans-Tasman netball league.
The Invercargill-based franchise today announced the signings of former Southern Sting defender Emma Moynihan and mid-courter Hayley Saunders.
Both were raised in Southland, are now studying in Dunedin and impressed for Otago during the national championships this month.
Saunders, 20, was a recent inclusion in the New Zealand under-21 team, while Moynihan, 23, played for Southern Sting in the former national league in 2003 and 2004.
Moynihan will join a formidable defensive line-up that already features seasoned Silver Ferns campaigner Sheryl Scanlan, former international Leana de Bruin and national under-21 representative Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit.
Saunders lines up alongside Silver Ferns Liana Barrett-Chase and Wendy Telfer and the experienced Erika Burgess in the midcourt, while goal attack Megan Dehn, of England, joins Daneka Wipiiti and Julianna Naoupu in the shooting ranks.
The Steel plan to add another shooter to their squad by the deadline on November 2.
