While known for her prowess at centre, Langman is equally at home at either wing defence or wing attack which will provide the Swifts' coaching staff with plenty of options for their midcourt combinations next season. On joining the Swifts, Langman will link up with Australian Diamonds' duo Kimberlee Green and Paige Hadley, plus 2015 Australian 21/U midcourter Kaitlyn Bryce.
"As far as import signings go, they don't get much more significant than Laura Langman," NSW Swifts' Head Coach Rob Wright stated.
"Laura is the complete netball package. Not only is she a supreme athlete who excels at all three midcourt positions, she has a winners' mentality, is globally respected and a true leader of people."
Having made her elite netball debut in 2003 for the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic in the former New Zealand national netball competition, Langman was a foundation player for the franchise in the ANZ Championship before moving to the Northern Mystics ahead of the 2014 season.
Her decision to join the Swifts means that Langman becomes the highest profile Silver Fern to ever play for an Australian team in the ANZ Championship.
"I'm so excited to be joining the NSW Swifts, a Club I've long admired both on and off court," Langman said.
"I want to keep challenging myself and my netball, and I see this move as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
"The Swifts played inspired netball in getting to the Grand Final last season and are determined to go one better, something I can't wait to be a part of," Langman concluded.
Langman's move to the Swifts has been approved and an eligibility exemption granted by Netball New Zealand to enable the Silver Fern to continue her illustrious International career should she be selected.
"While our Silver Ferns selection policy states athletes must play for a New Zealand team in the ANZ Championship to be considered for national selection, Netball New Zealand has granted Laura an exception whilst contracted to the NSW Swifts," Netball New Zealand Head of High Performance Steve Lancaster confirmed.
The former ANZ Championship co-MVP is the final piece of the puzzle for the Swifts' 12-strong player roster for 2016; a team which Wright says will "complete the unfinished business of 2015".
"As a Club we are resolute in our goal of going one better in 2016," Wright said.
"Our brand of netball is dynamic and exciting, and we have deliberately developed and recruited twelve athletes we believe will deliver that elusive second Premiership that our Members, supporters and stakeholders so richly deserve."
