KEY POINTS:
Shelley McMeeken is stepping aside as New Zealand's netball boss.
McMeeken today announced she is leaving next month after seven years as Netball New Zealand (NNZ) chief executive to begin a new job with The Edge, a performing arts, entertainment and convention facility in Auckland.
Her departure comes 10 months before the world netball championship is to be held in Auckland.
NNZ chairman Don Mackinnon said McMeeken's resignation had reluctantly been accepted.
" Under Shelley's leadership Netball New Zealand has prospered both on and off the court, achieving results that make it one of the most successful periods in the history of the sport," he said.
New Zealand holds the world championship title, the World Youth Cup title and the Commonwealth Games gold medal, while Mackinnon said netball membership numbers continued to grow and the sport's brand was at an all time high.
"Her enormous energy, passion and commitment to excellence will be missed by us all."
McMeeken said she was taking on a new job as director, corporate relations for The Edge.
"Netball has been such a huge part of my life over the last seven years and will continue to be in many respects, but I am keen to explore other options."
Mackinnon said an "executive search is being undertaken" to ensure the best candidate to lead NNZ was found.
