Have a little faith says Bay of Plenty Gold netball coach Hikitia Gallagher as she galvanises her A-grade side for round two of this year's NPC championships preliminary matches this weekend.
The games determine seedings for tournament week later this month and this weekend sees Bay of Plenty Gold up against Canterbury and Eastern at the QEII Youth Centre.
The Bay have the home advantage and will be looking for a big improvement after suffering a substantial loss at the hands of Auckland Waitakere last weekend.
The home side have been working on improving through-court linkages at training this week and Gallagher said achieving that progress will rely heavily on players having faith in one another.
"We reflected briefly on last weekend's game and looked at things to work on and we're definitely looking to improve the through-court attack play, effectively linking the defenders and midcourters," the coach said.
"It's about communication, timing and having vision but they also need to have faith in each other and they possibly lacked that at times last week. "It's an area we need to develop."
In Canterbury, who they play on tomorrow, the Bay have a formidable opponent featuring the likes of Silver Ferns Vilimaina Davu and Anna Galvan at the defensive end and Jodi Te Huna under the goal.
Sunday will provide the easier game -- in theory -- for the Bay, against Eastern who have been together for a couple of years but are still in re-building mode in Gallagher's assessment.
