Former Australian netballer Kath Harby-Williams has a simple solution to New Zealand's woes in the ANZ Championship - cut one of the teams.
Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic remains the only New Zealand team in the top four after six rounds, although the Southern Steel is up to fifth after their 61-52 victory over the Northern Mystics in Auckland last night.
The Tactix, Mystics and Pulse occupy the bottom three spots on the ladder and Harby-Williams says having four teams, with the talent spread evenly, would improve the standing of the New Zealand sides.
She says people say it blocks development pathways, but if New Zealand teams are vying for the title, other issues will be forgotten.
In last night's other game, the Queensland Firebirds staged a fourth quarter fightback to beat the West Coast Fever 56-53.
The Firebirds are now fourth on the table, behind the Melbourne Vixens, Magic and Adelaide Thunderbirds.
