New world champions Australia have lost their third starting player in five days with Selina Gilsenan announcing her international retirement yesterday.
Gilsenan follows captain and fellow defender Liz Ellis and wing attack Laura von Bertouch in quitting since the world championship victory over New Zealand.
Both Ellis and von Bertouch. 26, retired from all forms of the game, while Gilsenan, who this year won the national title with the Sydney Swifts, intends to play on for NSW next season in the new trans-tasman competition.
Gilsenan said: "I would like to start a family in the near future, and I cannot commit to the Australian squad and guarantee my commitments to the team over a full year."
