KEY POINTS:
English shooter Pamela Cookey is playing down any suggestion she could be the saviour of the England attack after their poor performances in Australia.
Cookey joined her teammates in Auckland on Friday after sitting out the Australian leg of the tour because of work commitments back home.
And her presence was certainly missed in the England shooting circle - coach Sue Hawkins struggled to find a solid combination to stand up to the heat of the Australians.
Several observers suggested the return of Cookey could bring about a change in the English side's fortunes, however the 35-test veteran said she alone is not the answer.
"I hope I am going to bring something extra to the squad otherwise why would they bother flying me out here? But it's definitely not a one-man team at all so I'm just hoping to do my part for the team and hopefully as a whole we come out on top," she said.
However, Hawkins said the addition of Cookey will give her side a definite boost.
"She's added our attack end buzz - she brings intelligence down that attack end and she's a fast mover."
Hawkins is not the only one to rate the 24-year-old shooter highly, with several ANZ Championship teams chasing Cookey's signature.
Cookey was impressive for England at last year's world championships and attracted a lot of attention from franchises, , but she was unable to commit to a team this year as she was completing her studies.
However, Cookey said she is definitely keen to play in the transtasman league next season, but would not reveal where she is likely to play.
"It'll be a great experience to come out here, as yet nothing has been sorted so until I know for definite I can't really say," she said. "I've spoken to a couple of franchises in New Zealand and Australia, but I'm not sure which side I'll go to."
Reports across the Tasman have linked Cookey with a move to the Melbourne Vixens.
