Former New Zealand captain Belinda Colling will be in charge of the Canterbury Flames in this year's Coca Cola Cup netball competition.
Double international Colling moved north from Dunedin for this year and with the two other obvious captaincy candidates, Belinda Charteris and Julie Seymour both pregnant, coach Leigh Gibbs said Colling was the logical skipper.
The Flames finished second behind the Southern Sting in last year's cup.
Last year's coach, Margaret Foster, is back playing for the Flames when the competition starts on March 24. Colling said Foster was still one of NZ's best midcourters.
