LONDON - Australia has made a flawless start to the Netball World Series, winning both their games on the opening day of the tournament in Manchester, England.
The Diamonds beat Jamaica 31-26 in their first match on Friday, thanks largely to strong performances by shooters Kate Beveridge and Susan Pratley.
They later easily accounted for Malawi 31-19, with mid-courter Natalie von Bertouch named player of the match.
Australia play three matches on Saturday.
They face New Zealand, who narrowly lost to England 24-21, plus win-less Samoa and the hosts, who thrashed the Samoans by 20 points.
The World Series is a condensed version of the game with matches lasting just 24 minutes.
Each team elect one quarter as a Power Play when any goals scored are worth double.
Shooters can shoot from inside or outside the goal circle, with goals from outside worth double points.
Teams can also make unlimited rolling substitutions.
