The transtasman league has been pushed forward next season to accommodate the Commonwealth Games later in the year.
The 2014 ANZ Championship will kick off three weeks earlier than its traditional start date, to allow Netball New Zealand and their Australian counterparts enough time to prepare their national teams for the Glasgow Games in August.
But unlike 2011, when the competition was shoehorned into 11 rounds to allow the national teams time to build-up for the Singapore world championships, next year will feature a full 14-week regular season, with the grand final to be contested on June 22/23.
The competition will head to Canberra for the first time next year when the NSW Swifts host the Southern Steel at the AIS Arena on Anzac Day. Canberra, which will host its first ever transtasman international in October, in the Constellation Cup finale, will fittingly play host to the first Anzac Day game.
The 2014 season will kick off with the Tactix hosting the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic at CBS Canterbury Arena in Christchurch before the defending champions, Adelaide Thunderbirds, begin their title defence against the Central Pulse in Porirua.
