KEY POINTS:
The International Netball Federation (INF) is eyeing alternatives in the event political instability denies Fiji next year's world championship, vice-president Kereyn Smith says.
The political climate in Fiji was a major concern, she said.
"We have had offers from a number of countries (to host the tournament)," Smith said.
"We're working through those and starting to plan should Fiji be unable to host the tournament."
Although no deadline has been given to Fiji, a decision before Christmas would give netball's governing body time to relocate the championship.
"Most of the playing nations have difficulty with hosting major events so obviously it will be one of the better resourced countries," Smith said.
That would make New Zealand or Australia the most likely host.
Smith said it would be inappropriate to name their alternative venues, but they do have fall back options.
A delegation from Fiji met with members of the INF in Jamaica two weeks ago. Safety was a concern.
