KEY POINTS:
Former Australian international and Force shooter Megan Dehn is unsure whether she will play in the Tasman Trophy next year - and if she does, which side of the Tasman she will play on.
Dehn is back in New Zealand for the national netball championships, which continue next week in Palmerston North.
She said she jumped at the chance to play for North despite returning to Sydney after 1 1/2 years in Auckland.
The Tasman Trophy replaces New Zealand's National Bank Cup and Australia's Commonwealth Bank Trophy next year.
Dehn said she had spoken to Yvonne Willering, coach of the greater Auckland side, but was also in contact with New South Wales coach Julie Fitzgerald.
"I am kind of keeping an open mind at the moment," Dehn said. "I am not sure whether I am going to play or not. I am just waiting to see when they finalise all the rules. But now that Yvonne is the coach that is very appealing for me."
Both the greater Auckland team and the New South Wales side have quality shooters in their mix if they can manage to hold on to them.
Auckland have Silver Ferns Maria Tutaia, Paula Griffin and Samoan representative Catherine Latu, while Australian players Catherine Cox and Susan Pratley played for the Sydney Swifts in this year's Commonwealth Bank Trophy.
Like New Zealand, Netball Australia are also looking to revamp their national championships to create a path to the Tasman Trophy.
Australia's national championships involve only under-21 players, who compete in a week-long tournament. Netball Australia is investigating the idea of bringing back the open grade and staging the tournament over several weekends - a format Netball New Zealand is probably also considering for their championships.
In what could be the last nationals in New Zealand in this format, North are one of the favourites.
They were unscathed in their first three games up to last weekend, beating Otago, Canterbury and Eastern.
Dehn said, "Our team is really young."
