Former Australian netball captain Vicki Wilson will coach the struggling Queensland Firebirds in the 2006 Commonwealth Bank Trophy.
Wilson takes over from Brenda Scherian after the Netball Queensland board decided against renewing her contact following a dreadful 2005 season.
Regarded as Australia's best ever netballer, Wilson retired from the sport in 1999 after 15 years of national representation.
A goal shooter, she played in four world championships, winning three, including the 1999 competition when she was captain.
