Arena Manawatu chief executive John Lynch said everything that matters will be ready in time for the New Zealand-Australia netball test in the former Manawatu Sports Stadium on Friday night, but only just.
Workmen were scuttling everywhere putting finishing touches to the $6.4 million refit today.
"To be honest, a couple of months up our sleeve would've been nice," Lynch said.
The 4000-seat stadium will be the most modern of New Zealand's netball and basketball venues.
A four-sided scoreboard was lifted into place yesterday to a height of 7.5 metres, 6m below the roof. It has cost almost $90,000 and has been funded by the Lion Foundation.
The Canadian maple floor was being laid today. It will take eight staff almost six hours to put the flooring down.
