The Capital Shakers beat Coca-Cola Cup defending champions the Southern Sting 51-48 in Wellington today.
It is the first defeat for the southerners in two years.
An encouraging home crowd and sharp shooting from Irene van Dyk, who netted 38 goals from 40 attempts, secured the win for the Shakers.
