KEY POINTS:
Northern Force defender Sheryl Scanlan has been recalled to the New Zealand netball squad after impressing the national selectors at training camps.
Scanlan last played for the Silver Ferns in 2005, before taking time out to have her first child. She made her New Zealand debut in 2000 and has 42 test caps.
Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken said Scanlan had taken the opportunities presented to her and proven herself in the squad environment at recent training camps.
"Sheryl has put in the hard work over the last six months and has shown she has both the drive and determination to make it back into the squad," Aitken said today.
"She provides valuable options in defence and the experience she brings with her is a boost for the squad," she said.
