Netball: Otago secures Nicol

Netball Southland failed in a last-ditch effort to secure Southern Sting captain Lesley Nicol for next month's national provincial championship.

But the Silver Fern hopes to play for the Southern Sting again in next year's National Bank Cup.

Nicol announced she would play for Otago, despite living in Southland and working as a first-year doctor at Southland Hospital.

She said Otago was attractive because it had a minimal build-up programme.
