The dumped coach of the Capital Shakers, Maria Lynch, is homeward bound.
Lynch was given her marching orders at the weekend after a poor result in the National Bank Cup where Wellington finished eighth out of nine teams.
She says it is definitely a sign the time is right to return back home to Sydney.
She says the move is a big surprise, especially as she had already started to plan for next year with incoming assistant Waimara Taumaunu, but those plans appear to have counted for little.
Lynch says they have some great young players coming through, thanks to the ex-board and herself working hard, but that hard work is now worth little.
Lynch's best result in the National Bank Cup was her third place with the Northern Force last year.
The Shakers board, which was itself replaced last month, is yet to name Lynch's replacement.
