NOOSA, Queensland - New Zealanders Bevan Docherty and Kris Gemmell were outgunned by Australian Craig Walton who dominated the men's Noosa Triathlon today.
For Walton it was a triumphant return from illness having battled glandular fever.
Walton led throughout today's race and won in a time of one hour, 47 minutes and 46 seconds in the prestigious Olympic distance event.
Docherty and Gemmell filled the minor placings.
Women's pre-race favourite Emma Snowsill could only finish third after battling with a badly sprained ankle suffered during a training mishap on Friday evening.
It was only the third time in 11 races this year that world and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Snowsill has not been first across the line.
Young Australian Felicity Abram won the Noosa women's race in 2hr 00m 23sec ahead of Annabel Luxford and Snowsill.
