Ben Falconer claimed New Zealand's first winter triathlon medal after his third place finish at the world championship event in Italy yesterday.
It was the first time New Zealand has been represented at a International Triathlon Union world championship winter event.
Falconer, 26, from Central Otago, completed the 3.3km run, 9km mountain bike and 12km cross-country ski course at Flassin in 1h 10min 35s.
