New Zealand triathlete Gina Crawford has smashed the Challenge Henley course record, taking her 10th iron distance title in the process.
Crawford held first place from start to finish at Henley-on-Thames in England, winning the 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42km run event in a time of 9:08:05. She recorded splits of 53:05 for the swim, 5:11:14 for the bike and 2:58:34 on the run.
Coming off the bike 20 minutes ahead of her closest contender, Bella Bayliss of Great Britain, Crawford went on to post an excellent run time to take her third victory in four weeks. Bayliss hung on to second place but there was over half an hour between the pair, showing the dominance of Crawford, who, like Bayliss, gave birth 14 months ago.
