New Zealand triathlete Terenzo Bozzone smashed the race record in winning the Wildflower Half Ironman at Lake San Antonio in Monterey County, California, yesterday.
The North Harbour triathlete took six minutes off the race record, winning in 3h 53m 43s to finish eight minutes ahead of top rating Australian Chris Legh and American Greg Remaly.
Ironman New Zealand champion Joanna Lawn finished fourth in the women's race, 14 minutes behind winner Samantha McGlone (Canada) ahead of Ironman world champion Natascha Badmann (Switzerland).
Lawn, who had the third best run time of 1:29.29 for the 21km run, was a minute behind third-placed Kim Loeffler (US) but ahead of Australian rival Kate Major.
