Still to come is part two of Suzuki Series' main event - the Formula 1 Super Bikes.
Due to a downpour of rain there was a slight reshuffle of the programme that delayed the first race of the F1 Super Bikes to allow for last minute tyre changes.
The race took off after lunch and it was Bay of Plenty's Scott Moir who crossed the finish line first. He is expected to take out this years' title in race two.
Moir dominated the opening round of the Suzuki Series on his home track at Taupo on December 10.
Auckland rider Daniel Mettam is the pick to come second but it will be a close battle between him and New Plymouth's Hayden Fitzgerald who finished just a wheel behind in the first race.
One minor crash earlier today left a man with a broken collar bone but a part from a few other slides nothing serious has been reported.
