Super saloons will race at WXC Speedway Western Springs tonight for the first time in 23 years, while sprint car drivers attempt to qualify for one of the most famous speedway events in the world.
The meeting, dubbed "Rolling Thunder", will feature 16 of New Zealand's best super saloon competitors, including national champion Steve Flynn as well as Steve Williams, Tiger Woods' former caddie.
"It's great to come back to Western Springs with these top drivers to put on the best show we possibly can," said organiser Grant Flynn.
"The drivers are really excited about this rare opportunity and everyone has gone out of their way to make sure it will be a success."
Also on show tonight will be a $15,000 sprint car race with the winner qualifying for the 56th annual Knoxville Nationals event in Iowa in August.
